Philip "Flip" D. Beer

Philip D. “Flip” Beer, 88, of Milford went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 30, 2018. Phil was born May 1, 1930 to Theo and Naoma Beer. On June 7, 1953 Phil married Mildred Mary Roecker, she preceded him in death on June 14, 2002, together they shared 49 years of marriage. On July 15, 2004 Phil married Lisa Kuhn Geiger, she survives.

Phil was born and raised in Milford graduating from Milford High School. Phil was drafted in to the Army in August of 1951 completing his basic training at Fort Meade. Phil was stationed overseas serving as a medic in Korea with the 7 th Medic Battalion of the 7 th Infantry Division. His duties often put him in harm’s way which eventually lead to Phil receiving the Army’s medal of accommodation.

Phil was a hard worker and dedicated member of his local communities. He was a member of various boards such as the Soil and Water Conservation Board, president of Syracuse Economic Development Commission, president of Kosciusko Board of Realtors, president of CRB Chapter of Indiana, Kosciusko County PTABOA and director of Indiana Association of Realtors and was a member of the Milford Apostolic Christian Church. Phil and his son and daughter ran Beer Realtors and Beer Appraisal Company where he worked until retiring in 2008. After retiring, Phil did not slow down, he volunteered for many years as a redcoat at I.U. Goshen Hospital.

At the young age of 65, Phil began hiking the Appalachian trail and walked a part of it in every state. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved the Lord and leaves a legacy that touched many lives in the communities of Kosciusko County.

Phil is survived by his wife Lisa, nine children, Teresa Beer of Greeley, CO, Janet Chomyn of Boulder, CO, Peggy (husband Gustavo) Romero of Boston, MA, Christy (husband Kent) Doty of Milford, John (wife Ronda) Beer of Milford, Philip (wife Debbie) Beer of Noblesville, Heather Gutwein of Carmel, Heidi (husband Stephen) Rozow of CA, and Benjamin (wife Kara) Beer of Bluffton, 20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are four siblings, Marguerite (husband Robert) Hoerr, Miriam Speicher, Rebecca (husband Pete) Doll, Bernard (wife Peg) Beer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mildred and two siblings.

Friends and family will gather for a celebration of Phil’s life on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 10:00 A M at the Milford Apostolic Christian Church; Ministers Randy and Jesse Beer will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery with Military honors provided by the United States Army and the American Legion Post 226.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 2-7 PM at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and one hour prior to service Wednesday at the church.
