Stanley O Stump

Stanley 0 “Stan” Stump, 74, of Milford peacefully passed from this life, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Stan was born January 14, 1947 in Warsaw to Dale and Glennis (Orn) Stump. He married Natalie Ostendorf on August 22, 1970.

Stan graduated from Milford High School in 1965 and was drafted into The United States Army in May of 1966. Stan honorably served his country during Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient. He then went to work for NIPSCO where he was employed for many years until his retirement. Stan was a member of Milford Christian Church and served as Post Commander of American Legion Post 226 for 40 years where he put in countless hours preparing for the many events Post 226 was a part of. Stan was a humble, patient man but also loved a good practical joke. He loved teasing the grandkids, riding snowmobiles and was an avid mushroom hunter. He enjoyed tinkering in the shed and playing poker with the guys on Thursday nights. He loved his family and cherished spending time with them all.

Stan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Natalie, two sons, Doug Stump of Syracuse and David (Tammi) Stump of Leesburg, six grandchildren, Dylan Stump and Alexis Stump of Syracuse, Wency (Mark) Jackson of Milford, Michaela Stump of Leesburg, Michael (Olivia) Stump of Angola and D.J. Stump of Leesburg and his mother, Glennis Stump of Milford.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Rick and Dennis Stump.

Calling hours will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Milford. Military honors will be rendered by Post 226 and The United States Army at 3:00 PM for those wishing to attend.

Memorial donations in memory of Stan may be given to The Wounded Warriors Project or an organization of your choice.
