Rex A. Wert Sr., 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Born in Goshen, Indiana on July 26, 1955, Rex was the son of Norman E. and Cora E. (Miller) Wert.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 until his Honorable Discharge in 1975.
On February 23, 1974, in Warsaw, Rex took Sue (Hendrickson) as his wife, and they would welcome three children.
Rex worked in the RV industry for over 30 years for Holiday Rambler/Monaco Coach and lastly for ATC Trailer.
Rex loved racing cars and enjoyed anything that had to do with an engine He raced at the New Paris, Kalamazoo and Plymouth Motor Speedways. He was always welcoming to an ice-cold Mountain Dew and loved pocketknives and flashlights. A family man, Rex adored most being with his grandchildren and family.
He is dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Sue; his children: Rex (Anna) Wert Jr of McEwen, TN, Ryan (Chanelle) Wert of Cromwell, IN and Brandi (Stephen) Farber of Milford; 11 grandchildren: Callie, Chloe, Kaiden, Zoren, Jake, Emma, Adam, Bree, Charlotte, Adelle and Dylan and 4 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his siblings: Bev (Kenneth) Shelton of Arkansas, Paul (Kim) Wert, Sherry Brockleman and Dawn (John) Marsh, all of Goshen; sister-in-law, Terry Wert as well as an aunt, an uncle, and many nieces and nephews.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale Wert, sister Pam (Dean) Kiser, and brother-in-law, Johnny Brockleman.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 5, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, 461 W 900 N, Milford.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 6, 2026, in the funeral home with Pastor Josh Weiland officiating. Visitation will resume one hour prior.
Burial will be at Milford Cemetery, Milford, IN with Military Honors.
