Phyllis Delph

January 8, 1940 — November 4, 2020

Phyllis Delph, 80, of Syracuse went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Phyllis was born January 8, 1940 in Rappahannock, Virginia, a daughter of Charles B. and Elizabeth (Burke) Shenk. She married Richard “Shorty” Delph on December 27, 1961; they lived happily together for many years.

Phyllis was very loving and caring. She enjoyed taking care of her loved ones. Family always came first. She enjoyed having family and friends come play at the lake. Phyllis cherished making the trip home to Virginia, where she had many loved ones and wonderful memories. Her eyes would fill with delight at the first sight of mountains. Phyllis could often be found helping Shorty at their racing events, or at home at the lake. She was a member of the New Salem Church of the Brethren. Phyllis loved the Lord and enjoyed serving friends at the church.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 58 years, “Shorty”, two children, Jeff (Kim Wible) Delph Syracuse, Delana (Jack) Walker, Milford and a granddaughter, Ashley (Brandon) Boyer, Warsaw.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

She was the heart of her family, the very thread that held it together. Dinners, summer days and of course holidays she will be thought of, and through memories her spirit will live on.

In keeping with Phyllis’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center was entrusted with the care of Phyllis. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mishlerfhcc.com
