Phillip Franklin Campbell

Phillip Franklin Campbell, age 88, of Goshen, Indiana, passed away at 8:30 pm on Saturday February 10, 2024 at Goshen Hospital. He was born at home on February 3, 1936 the son of Merle and Laura (Smith) Campbell in Milford, Indiana. On October 2, 1955 he married Clarann Hartter in Milford.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Clarann Campbell of Milford, Indiana; 3 children, Timothy (Bobbie) Campbell of Syracuse, Indiana, Thomas Campbell of New Paris, Indiana, and Tracy (Marvin) Miller of Milford, Indiana; four grandchildren, Chad (Rachel) Campbell of Whitestown, Indiana, Dana (David) Byler of Nappanee, Indiana, Austin (Ashley) Miller of Westfield, Indiana, and Amber (Adam) Cowan of Newbury Park, California; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Farnsworth of Florida and Nancy Willson of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Presley; and an older brother, Merle “Bud” Campbell Jr.

Phil graduated from Milford High School in 1955 and worked in the family grocery store on Main Street in Milford. He eventually took over the family grocery business and built Campbell’s IGA grocery store on SR 15 in Milford. In addition to the grocery store, Phil owned and operated the Stop-n-Go convenience stores in Milford & New Paris until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Wawasee Community Bible Church. Phil loved playing cards, hunting, golfing, and traveling to warmer places.

A private family service will be held in Phil’s honor on Friday, February 16, 2024. Pastor Josh Weiland will officiate. Burial will take place at Milford Cemetery at a later date.
