Nicholas "Nick" Skrumelak

Nicholas Skrumelak, 72, of Milford passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 17, 2019 at his residence. Nick was born in Neumark, Germany to Mychajlo and Eudokia (Abramiuk) Szkrumelak . He married Rita Harris on November 18, 1988; she survives.

Nick’s family moved to the United States when he was a child. He enlisted in the Army and was later discharged after several years of service. Nick enjoyed working with wood, playing his guitar and going to auctions looking for the next great find. He had a heart of gold and would do just about anything for others. He loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could.

Nick is survived by his wife Rita of 30 years of Milford, a son Nick Skrumelak and a grandson Gavin Skrumelak both of Milford, two step children Angie (Armando) Loney of Florida and James (Sharon) Hepler of Kentucky and 11 step grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Mike Szkrumelak of Churubusco, John Szkrumelak of Denver, CO, one sister, Maria Beatty of Milford, two nephews and a niece.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service celebrating Nick’s life will be Friday, February 22, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Word of Truth Ministries, 210 East Catherine Street, Milford, IN 46542. Pastor Mike Kelley will officiate the service.

The family will receive guests for four hours prior to the service, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Word of Truth Ministries.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family.
