Mary Margaret Lowry, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on April 22, 1959, in South Bend, IN, to Elsie (Hartman) Nyikos and the late Frank Nyikos. Mary's warmth and infectious spirit was a beacon of love that shined brightly throughout her 66 years of life.
Mary graduated from Wawasee High School, where she laid the foundation for lifelong friendships and a career centered around community service. She dedicated many years of her life to working in the food service industry, where her kindness and thoughtfulness touched the lives of those she served.
Married to her beloved husband, Nub Lowry, of Clunette, Mary found true companionship and joy. Together they navigated life's journey with grace and shared love. She was a devoted mother to two wonderful children, Sage Bice of Milford and Justin (Nicole) Bice of Unalaska, AK. Mary reveled in her role as a doting grandmother to Kenadie Margaret Bice, Justin "LJ" Muchowicz II, and Leo Bice, imparting lessons of love and laughter that will resonate with them forever.
In addition to her immediate family, Mary is survived by her mother, Elsie Nyikos; her sisters, Catherine (Randall) Shankster of Cromwell and Jean (Steve) Tarner of Milford; her brother, Frank Nyikos Jr. of Unionville; her sister-in-law, Victoria Joseph-Nyikos of Mishawaka; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Her kindness, warmth, and bright spirit touched each of their lives deeply. Not to be forgotten is Mary's ever faithful and loving dog, Amos, who was her constant companion and source of comfort. Predeceased by her father, Frank Nyikos, and her brother, Stephen Nyikos, Mary now joins them in eternal peace.
Mary's vivacious personality was a joy to all who knew her. Known for being unapologetically herself, she embraced life with passion and determination. Her interests spanned many areas, but she found particular solace and pleasure in gardening—nurturing plants and flowers with the same tender care she showed to her loved ones.
