Obituary

Lynn F. Scott, 84, of South Bend and recently Milford, Indiana passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw, Indiana.

Mom was born in Lebanon, Indiana, September 6, 1941, to Bernard Restine and Opal Imogene (Baker) Scott, who preceded her in death. Lynn is survived by her brother, Jan (Marylin) Scott Carmel, Indiana, her three children, Vicki Trittipo, Indianapolis, Deena (Wayne) Bontrager Spring Hill, Florida, and Ken (Pam) Long Milford, Indiana. Lynn was also preceded in death by her grandson, Kristopher Helmuth and sister-in-law, Lara Scott.

Lynn deeply loved her grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Teddy McCoy) Kesterman South Bend, Kyle (Amanda)Trittipo Indianapolis, Kameron (Autumn) Helmuth, Huntertown, her great grandchildren, Clarissa, Braylen, and Goldie and her great-great grandson Makai, along with her nephews, Mathew and Patrick.

Mom spent her childhood in Arcadia, Indiana, graduating from Jackson Central High School in 1959 and going on to graduate from Indiana University. She then began her teaching career as a Home Economics teacher in Rushville, Indiana, in the early 60's where she made lifelong friendships with many, which she did everywhere she lived.

Lynn later moved to the Milford, Indiana area to Dewart Lake, then to South Bend, Indiana, where she worked for Stantz Cheese for almost 40 years, retiring just a few years ago.

Mom was known for her love of cooking (her "major" as she used to say), her children, her friends, her yard, which was her own botanical garden on the west side of South Bend, and the penchant for deciding she needed a new dress. She had the skills to then proceed to cut out and sew up said dress, (usually with no need for a pattern), in the next hour or less, so she could go out with friends, in her new dress.

Mishler Funeral Home Milford, Indiana is handling the arrangements for Lynn.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life for Lynn at a later date, when we can all come together to share stories of mom's life and not freeze our butt's off!

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to remember mom by planting a flower or plant in your yard to start your own botanical garden. It would make her smile.
