Donald W. Blodgett, 83, of Warsaw passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at The Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen. He was born November 18, 1940 in Goshen to Charles Henry “Hank” and Doris M. (Strawser) Blodgett. In 1969, he married Connie Elliott; she passed away in 1985. On April 21, 1991, he married Jennie Linville and she survives.
Donald was a Goshen and Milford area resident most of his life, spending some time in Tennessee during retirement, but ultimately returning back home to Indiana. After graduating from Goshen High School, he joined the US Army and honorably served his country in Vietnam. Donald held a variety of jobs over the years, working for Lechlitner Motors, Zook, Inc., and as a Court Security Officer with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. He also owned and operated his own gun smith shop and Don’s Body Shop in Goshen. Donald was a skilled carpenter as well, and would often make beautiful wood tables.
Donald attended The Word of Truth Ministries in Milford, and New Life Christian Church while in Tennessee. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Donald was an avid target shooter with the American Single Shot Rifle Association and Stone’s Trace Muzzle Loading Club in Ligonier.
Donald is survived by his wife, Jennie Blodgett of Warsaw; a daughter, Rebecca (Scott) Keyser of Middlebury; a step son, Rick (Teresa) Linville of Milford; a step daughter, Jodie (Scott) Wallace of Warsaw; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two brothers, Devon (Sandra) Blodgett of Plymouth and Doug Blodgett of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Connie.
A funeral in honor of Donald will be held at 1 PM on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 461 W 900 N, Milford, IN 46542. Pastor Mike Kelley will officiate with burial following at Milford Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 10 AM to 1 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
