Carlton “Cap” Beer, 92, of Milford went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at IU Goshen Health. He was born on January 1, 1925 to Ezra and Luella Beer in Milford. In 1943, he graduated from Milford High School. Cap married Mary Ann Sauder on October 17, 1948. Cap was a lifetime resident of Milford.
Cap loved his Lord, his church, and the community of Milford. He served in many positions in the Apostolic Christian Church, including trustee and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed visiting with people and even wrote about Milford residents for the Mail Journal.
Cap was a dairy farmer for many years and continued his love of animals by keeping horses and ponies. He made at least one trip a day to the farm to care for his ponies and gave free rides at the Milford Fest on Memorial Day. He also took his little dog, Annie to the nursing home for visiting every Wednesday. Cap will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Cap is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ann Beer; a daughter, Pat (Russell) Mikel of Syracuse; three sons, Dan (Deborah) Beer of Syracuse, Fred (Pat) Beer of Milford, and Steve (Connie) Beer of Syracuse; Ronn’s widow, Shari (Mike) Fiechter of Ossian, IN; 22 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; and a brother, Jess “Bud” (Shirley) Beer of Milford.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Dickie Beer and Ronn Beer; three sisters, Viola, Kathryn, and Eunice; and two brothers, Howard and Maurice.
A funeral service in honor of Cap will be held at 10 AM on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Milford. The church ministry will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 8 PM on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Milford and an hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Apostolic Christian Church in Milford.
