Norma Leismer, age 90, of Kouts, IN, formerly of Leesburg, IN, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at home. She was born on March 30, 1926 in Waterville, OH, the daughter of Clarence and Letta (Studer) Brown.
Norma graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, OH. On April 7, 1947, she married Allen Leismer in Petosky, MI and they later moved to Chicago, IL. Together they raised two sons in Hammond, IN, where Norma worked as a clerk at Mina’s in downtown Hammond for many years. In 1992 she and her husband retired to Leesburg, IN. She loved to do crafts and travel to crafts shows with her husband. She was a member of Living Gospel Church in Nappanee, IN and loved to spend time with her family.
Norma is survived by her two sons, David (Joann) Leismer of Kouts, IN, and Dan (Dennise) Leismer of Milford, IN; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren; along with two sisters, Arlene Drier of Pensacola, FL, and Joyce (Harold) Brown of Zephyrhills, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Diana Thomas; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Tillbury.
In keeping with her wishes, a private family service will be held with Pastor Dave Soliday officiating. A cremation committal will take place with Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
