Barbara Louise Sorensen

Barbara Louise Sorensen, 81, of Crystal Lake, IL, formerly of Milford, IN, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Autumn Leaves Memory Care Facility. She was born on December 2, 1935 in Janesville, WI to John and Mildred (Boyd) Hamilton.

Barbara attended nursing training at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL and in 1960 she made her way to Milford, IN. On April 22, 1961, she married Dale G. Sorensen. They remained residents of Milford for most of their lives, raising their two daughters in the small Indiana town. Barbara began working as a Registered Nurse at Goshen Hospital in 1967; she cared for patients there for many years, until her retirement in July of 1999. Barbara was a member of the Milford New Salem Church of the Brethren and the Goshen Eastern Star. She was also a member of the American Nurses Association.

Barbara will be missed by two daughters, Norine (Bruce) MacGregor of Dundee, IL and Marcia Sorensen of Saginaw, MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Dale G. Sorensen and her parents.

A funeral service in Barbara's honor will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Milford, IN. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received from 6-9 at Church on the Rock, 17N230, Manning Road, Huntley, IL, on Monday, January 9, 2017. There will also be a time of visitation from 6-8 at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Milford on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
