James Leroy Kizer, 81, of Indianapolis passed away December 8, 2016 at Rosewalk Village Nursing Home in Indianapolis. James was born on August 26, 1935 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Paul and Katherine (Longfellow) Kizer. After graduating from Milford High School, James went on to honorably serve his country in the US Marines. He married Patricia Heaton on June 19, 1960 in Leesburg, Indiana; she preceded him in death in 2004. He later married Dorothy Campbell on April 26, 2008; she survives. James enjoyed camping and was a 50 year Free Mason.
James is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kizer of Indianapolis; two daughters, Julie (Bob) Sigalow of Greenwood and Jennifer Witty of Greenwood; a son, James P. Kizer of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Grant, Marshall, and Michelle; two sisters, Rita (Bob) Shiere of Dunedin, FL and Lois Scott of Warsaw; and a brother, Jan Kizer of California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia and his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Leesburg United Methodist Church, 111 W Prairie St, Leesburg, IN. Pastor Rob Seewald will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Leesburg Cemetery with military honors.
Friends and family may call from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Simplicity Funeral Home, 7520 Madison Ave, Indianapolis, IN, and for one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at Leesburg United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.
