Kay A. (Noel) Ahrns, 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at The Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen. She was born October 9, 1947 in Leesburg to Lewis E. and Juanita P. (Brookins) Noel. On June 20, 1970 she married Robert B. Ahrns in North Webster; he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2007. She and Bob lived in the communities of Nappanee, Syracuse, North Webster, and Fairfield Glade, TN.
She is survived by one sister, Pat (Charles, deceased) Mishler; a brother, Mike Noel of Leesburg; sisters-in-law, Karen (Vloris “Gene”, deceased) Noel of Columbus, OH, Arietta (Max, deceased) Noel of Noblesville, Judi (Jack) Ulrey of Coupeville, WA, and Nancy (Mike, deceased) Treesh of SugarLand, TX. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, including Milford residents, Michael (Christine) Noel, Jr. and their sons, Caden and Griffin.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; two brothers; two brothers-in-law; parents-in-law, Don and Bernice Ahrns; nephew, Timothy B. Mishler; and great niece, Madelyn Noel Stephenson.
As an employee of Fairfield Community Schools from 1970 to 2002, Kay served as a corporation speech, language pathologist for 23 years and as school library media specialist at Faifield Jr-Sr High School for 8 years. She was a 1966 graduate of Leesburg High School. She received a Speech Pathology and Audiology Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 from Ball State University, and a Masters of Library Science degree from Indiana University in 1994.
Kay was a member of Union Center Church of the Brethren, Nappanee and Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
A cremation committal will take place and she will be laid to rest in Milford Cemetery.
