Charles “Lewis” Speicher, 86, of Milford passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at home. He was born to Charles A. and Pauline (O’Haver) Speicher on May 28, 1929 in Milford Junction, Indiana. Lewis graduated from Milford High School in 1948 and was part of the school’s only undefeated basketball team, earning his right as the first inductee into the Kosciusko County High School Basketball Hall of Fame. He also held the school record for the 100 yard dash until the school’s closing in 1968. Not long after graduation, Lewis married his high school sweetheart, Miriam Beer in Milford. Lewis diligently worked the land as a local farmer, and together, he and Miriam raised five children. He was a member of the Wawasee Community Bible Church.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Miriam Speicher of Milford; three sons, Ned (Deb) Speicher of Rensselaer, Ted (Sandy) Speicher of Noblesville, and Tom (Tammy) Speicher of Milford; a daughter, Sue (Jerry) Morgan of Syracuse; a son-in-law, Tom Kroh of Fishers; fourteen grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Patrick (Sheila) Speicher of Sebring, Florida.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Kroh; a great grandson, Nicholas Dennis Crowder; and two brothers, Carl William Speicher and James Speicher.
Friends may call from 2-6 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Wawasee Community Bible Church.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the church. Pastor Josh Weiland will officiate, with burial following in the Milford Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Wawasee Community Bible Church.
