Sarah Jane Smith

Sarah Jane Smith, 84, of Bremen, passed away at 8:05 am, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in Signature Health Care of Bremen. Sarah was born on May 18, 1930 in Plymouth, the daughter of the late Milo and Mabel (Pike) Culp. On May 18, 1951, she married Cecil W. Smith. He passed away on August 6, 1991. She is also preceded in death by step father, Hillis Rhoades, who raised her like a daughter and two brothers, Claude and Raymond. She is survived by two children, Brenda (Bill) Cox and Ray (Nancy) Smith, both of Bremen; four grandchildren, Sarah (Robert) Mudica, Jessica Cox, Ron Shirley and Fawn Shirley; and 11 great grandchildren, Gregg McManis, Jr., Eli Mudica, Robert Mudica, Jr., Seanna Mudica, Katelynn, Laken, Reed, Brooke, Tyler, Justice, and Stormy. She is also survived by two siblings, Kay Garrison of Plymouth and Phil Rhoades of Wakarusa. Sarah was a longtime area resident, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1948. She was a member of Bremen Missionary Church. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 17, 2015 in Bremen Cemetery with Pastor Brad Thornton officiating.
