Noble D. Carpenter

December 14, 1942 — April 7, 2015

Noble D. Carpenter, 72, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away on April 7th, 2015 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 14th, 1942 in Plymouth, Indiana to Erma Lucille Reaker and Harley Meredith Carpenter. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Charles H. King in Lapaz, Indiana where he graduated from Lapaz High School in 1960. Noble served in the US Army Reserves from 1961-1968. After joining the Plymouth Jaycees, he went on to become the State President of the Indiana Jaycees from 1972-73. During his administration the Indiana Jaycees enjoyed their highest membership of over 12,000 members. While president and working with various states he was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel, an honorary North Carolina Tar Heel, an honorary citizen of Tennessee, and an Aide de Camp, Governor's Staff of the State of Louisiana. He then went on to become a JCI Senator, and was actively involved his entire life. Noble was married to Carol Haid Lanman on December 29th, 1974 and moved to Warsaw, Indiana where he began his affiliation with Indiana Restaurant Equipment Corp as a sales agent. He retired in 2010. He was an avid sportsman; playing and umpiring men's softball, achieving three holes-in-one in his golf career, and becoming a certified professional ski instructor, teaching for 11 years at Swiss Valley Ski Area. He loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, dance, and school activities. Noble is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Carin (Tony) Plothow of Plymouth, Crista (Blake) Carpenter Schroeder of Zionsville, and son Craig (Liz) Carpenter of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren, Allison Shook (Shannda Martin), Tyler Shook, Andria Shook, Haley Plothow, Reagan Plothow, Audrianna Plothow, Annaliese Plothow, Grace Carpenter, Benjamin Carpenter, and Claire Carpenter. He is also survived by sisters Marjorie Holderman of LaPaz, Mary (Darrell) McIntire of Argos, brother Max (Linda) King of Lapaz and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Noble is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Walter Allen Carpenter, a grandson, Samuel Quinn Carpenter, and brother-in-laws Louis Holderman and Ray Slick. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, April 10, 2015 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 11, 2015 in the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Noble may be made to the charity of choice.
