John Milton Windham, age 78, of Bremen passed away at his home on Sunday December 28, 2014 as the result of natural causes. He was born in Bellwood, AL April 25, 1936, the son of John T. and Mary Alice (King) Windham. On June 25, 1955 he married Barbara Jean Annis; she was his beloved bride for nearly 60 years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Windham of Bremen; a daughter, Cynthia K. (Jack) Leanhart of San Antonio, TX; his mother, Mary Alice Windham of Bremen; 6 grandchildren, Jamie Yoder & Ryan Yoder both of Bremen, Danielle Castro of Boerne, TX, Gabrielle (Elone) Fonua of Lindon, UT, Jessica (Todd) Thomas of Woodlands, TX, & David (Jalene) Castro of San Antonio, TX; 15 great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Taylor, Gavin, Mason, Layne, Madison, DC, Emma, Ellie, Alma, Brantley, Rylen, Bentley, Lilly, &Viola a great-great-granddaughter, Kassidy; a brother, Charles "Ron" (Mary Ellen) Windham of Osceola, IN.
He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Windham, in 1970 and a son, Steve Windham in 1994.
John travelled across the United States and Canada as a commercial truck driver for over 40 years before retiring. He loved horses and flying airplanes. John was a member of the National Rifle Association and Horizon Ministries in Bremen.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on Friday January 2, 2015 at 11AM at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Pastor Jim Morse will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date in Bremen Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 5-8 PM on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of America or the American Diabetes Association.
