Shirley A. Smith

Shirley A. Smith, age 79, of Bremen, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at her home. She was born December 29, 1934 in Bremen to Carl and Thelma (BonDurant) Schweisberger. September 6, 1953 Shirley married John D. Smith. They were fortunate to have 61 happy years together.

Shirley graduated from Bremen High School in 1953. She was a homemaker and worked at Meister Drugs for 20 years. Shirley was a member of the Bremen United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, card club, pizza night and her dog Dottie. She was a QVC Shopping expert. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband John of Bremen, two daughters; Susan (Daniel) Troche of Nappanee and Barbara (Daniel) Metzler of Nappanee, one son; Devon (Kay) Smith of Bremen, one sister; Bonnie George of Nappanee, three brothers; Carl (Peg) Schweisberger of Bremen, Rodney "Skip" Schweisberger of Bristol and Randy Schweisberger of Elkhart, seven grandchildren; Kristy Anderson, Jennifer (Trent) Miller, Jaclyn (Scott) Blackford, Joshua (Laura) Metzler, Jalayne (Jared) Coblentz, Haley Metzler and Staci Smith, twelve great grandchildren; Mikel, Mason, Adelaide, Violet, Lukas, Halle, Colton, Brady, Bo, Broxton, Miles and Calli. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother Carl Jr.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Pastor Chuck Krieg will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call 3-7 pm Friday, December 26, 2014 at the funeral home.
