Leroy Stephens, 84, of Mishawaka, passed away on the evening of Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Bremen Health Care in Bremen, Indiana. Leroy was born in Floyd County, Kentucky on December 6, 1929 to the late Robert and Minnie (Bradley) Stephens. He married Carrie Howard in Knox, Indiana, at the First Christian Church on September 24, 1952.
He served in the US Army at the end of World War II in Japan and during the Korean War. He also spent time stationed in Germany. He worked for almost 30 years at Standard Oil in Granger, Indiana.
Leroy is survived by his son, Michael (Steven), of Traverse City, Michigan. He is also survived by his brother Bill Stephens, of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Thelma Kuhl and Fannie Pitts, along with brothers, Claude and Ferd Stephens.
Leroy enjoyed spending time "Up North" at the cottage at Spider Lake in Traverse City. He was always up for early morning fishing trips. Memorial contributions can be made to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy in Traverse City, Michigan (http://www.gtrlc.org/support-our-work/)
A private memorial will be held for family after the first of the year.
