Marlene VanSoest, 66, of Bremen went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Center for Hospice in South Bend. She was born to George and Louise (Bucel) Kremm on October 20, 1947 in Chicago, IL.
After high school, Marlene attended business college and went on to work for the railroad for many years. She married Larry VanSoest in Chicago, IL. Marlene was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was very faithful to her Lord, even though she endured many hardships in her life. Reading her Bible and doing daily devotions were very important to her. Marlene also enjoyed interior design and gardening.
Marlene is survived by her son, Matthew (LeeAnna) VanSoest of Bremen; three step children, Cheryl VanSoest, Susan (Jerry) Kapaldo, and Kevin (Erin) VanSoest all of Chicago Heights, IL; four step grandchildren; one step great-grandson; a brother, George Kremm of Chicago, IL; and a special aunt, Mary Bucel of Naples, FL.
Friends may call from 2-6 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bremen. A funeral service will begin at 6 PM, after the visitation, with Pastor Roger Rohde officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran School.
