James Jay Sweisberger, 69, of Bremen passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at home. He was born in South Bend on June 9, 1945 to George and Rose (Nicholson) Sweisberger. After graduating high school, Jim honorably served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Jim made an honest living as a farm hand for most of his life, and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He also enjoyed tinkering in the garage; one his prized possessions was an old 1957 Chevy car that he and his dad rebuilt together many years ago. Jim was a lifetime member of the Bremen VFW and could usually be found there in the morning, enjoying a cup of coffee.
Jim is survived by a brother, Eugene Sweisberger of Ft. Myers, FL; two nieces, Barbara Gail Balser and Peggy Workman both of Plymouth; and a nephew, David Sweisberger of Toledo, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Bremen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bremen VFW in honor of Jim.
