Carolyn M. Kile, 81, of Bremen passed away June 5, 2014 at St Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. She was born April 20, 1933 in Union, Michigan to Max and Lydia (Wagner) Aukerman. She married Glen E. Kile on August 16, 1952; he preceded her in death on May 26, 2010.
Carolyn graduated high school in 1951 and married Glen the following year. She lived with her family for 56 years in their home on Center Street before moving to the Whitlock and Miller's Merry Manor. She worked for Borneman, Nisco, Ristance and was a member of the Bremen Homemaker Club. Carolyn was known for her beef and noodles and apple sheet cake. She enjoyed taking her daily walks and going to Curves. Family was her priority and she always put them first. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Leonard of East Jordan, MI, Jenny Kile of Crown Point, IN, Jan (John) Schmidt of Indianapolis; a son, Bradley (Lisa Soto) Kile of Bremen and two grandchildren, Zachary (fiance Christine Wyatt) Schmidt of Indianapolis and Wyatt Schmidt of Indianapolis. Also surviving are four sisters, Betty Briggs of Goshen, Lois (Dean) Farrer of Bremen, Jean Stillson of Alabama and Doris Jones of Edwardsburg, MI and three brothers Dale (Lucinda) Aukerman of South Bend, Ronald Aukerman of Bremen and John Aukerman of Wakarusa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Pauline Fulmer and three brothers, Richard, Robert and Donald Aukerman and a son in law, Arlon Leonard.
Services will be at 7:00 PM, Monday, June 9, 2014 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday in Bremen Cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be given to The Community Hospital of Bremen.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to Dr. Rosentrater and Nurse Barb Schramm for taking such good care of Carolyn.
