Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Jo Ann Conrad rose into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday morning, April 8, 2014, at the age of 85. Jo Ann is survived by Robert – her husband of 60 years – her sisters Eloise, Mary, Kathleen, Helen and brother Richard; her son Kevin and his wife Jennifer and children Niccolas, Josef, and Natalia of New York; her daughter Kristen and her husband Dave and children Kimberly, Jonathan, Jason and Scott of San Diego. She was predeceased by her brothers Eugene, Robert and Gary. Jo Ann was born in 1929 to Gary and Clara Klopfenstein in Bremen, Indiana, graduated from Mishawaka High School, and attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She married Robert on May 24, 1954. In 1960, Robert and Jo Ann joined Wycliffe Bible Translators and, after training in Mexico, traveled to Papua New Guinea in 1962 where they worked together for over 40 years. As a faithful servant, Jo Ann was an active partner in the translation of four New Testaments into the tribal languages of Bukiyep, Muhian, Filifita and Arapesh. She also taught conversational English for eight years to many visiting students at Dallas Baptist University. Jo Ann was committed to sharing God’s love and seeking to use her talents for His glory! She was a friend to all and loved by so many. She will be so deeply missed by her family.
Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Community Gospel Church in Bremen, Indiana, and at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Activity Center of the International Linguistic Center in Dallas, Texas.
