George A. Hampe

George A. Hampe, 99, of Bremen, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa. He was born to George and Celia Hampe on September 8, 1914 in Alhambra, California. George honorably served his country in the US Army during WWII. After returning from the war, he married Charlene Kestner on February 25, 1950. They moved from Illinois to Bremen in 1964, where George worked as a sales rep for Package Masters for many years. George was a member of the First United Church of Christ. He was also a charter member of Dollars for Scholars and Kiwanis.



George is survived by his daughter, Barb (Charlie) Sauter of Bremen; a son, Fred (Becci) Hampe of Mequon, WI; four grandchildren, Erin (Tony) Haseley, Michael (Lindsey) Sauter, Casey, and Freddie Hampe; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ella, and Georgia Haseley, and Asher Sauter.



He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene; a sister, Tonia Gale; and a brother, Darwin Hampe.



A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 AM at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Pastor Thomas Dean will officiate the service.



Friends may call from 3-8 PM on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.



Memorial contributions may be given to Dollars for Scholars, First United Church of Christ, or Center for Hospice.
