Ronald F. Fanning, Sr., 72, of Bremen, formerly of Cissna Park, IL, passed away March 31, 2014 at Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart. He was born January 14, 1942 in Milford, Illinois. Ronnie graduated from Milford High School. On May 12, 1963, Ronnie married Bonnie Baker. He went on to work as a truck driver and a cattle and hog buyer. He also worked for 18 years at Cargill Meat Solutions. In 2003, Ronnie moved to Bremen and became a Bremen Lions fan, following his grandchildren. He was also a lifelong fan of the Chicago Bulls, the White Sox, and the Arizona Cardinals. Ronnie attended Nappanee Missionary Church and was a member of the Cissna Park American Legion.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Bremen; two children, Skip (Mary) Fanning of Bremen, Rob (Heather) Fanning of Cordova, IL; four grandchildren, Ben, Leah, Amy and Jack Fanning of all Bremen; three siblings, Sam (Terri) Fanning of Milford, IL, Margaret Emme of North Platte, NE, and Jennifer (Ron) Miller of Auburn, CA; and his three grand-dogs, Ripken, Daisy, and Zoey.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Wyss Fanning; his father, Frederick Williams; his step-father, Alvin Fanning, his grandparents, William and Mary Wyss, who raised him, and Ben and Ruth Fanning.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM EDT Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Nappanee Missionary Church, Nappanee, IN. Pastor Norm Reimer will officiate the service. Friends may call 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the church.
In addition, there will be a celebration of Ronnie’s life at 2:30 PM CDT Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Christian Church in Milford, IL. Friends may call 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given in lieu of flowers to Multiple Myeloma Foundation, Center for Hospice, or Cissna Park American Legion.
