John William Teghtmeyer, 87, of Bremen passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. John was born in Danville, IL to Lauren and Evelyn Teghtmeyer on July 25, 1926. John honorably served his country in the US Navy during WWII and later served during the Korean War in the US Army. He was a charter member of the Bremen VFW and a long time member of the Nappanee American Legion. John retired from NIPSCO after 30 years.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail Teghtmeyer of Bremen; two children, Kevin Teghtmeyer of South Bend and Kelly (Jim) Ratliff of Fishers; two grandchildren, Jay Ratliff and Max Ratliff of Fishers; and two siblings, Tom (Cherie) Teghtmeyer of Bremen and Mary Beth (Richard) Wood of Bremen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Beth Ann Teghtmeyer.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Bremen Cemetery Chapel in Bremen with military honors.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bremen VFW or the Nappanee American Legion 154.
