Ellen L. Swihart

Ellen L. Swihart, 91, of Bremen went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 9, 2013. She was born in Wawaka on December 16, 1921 to Ray and Bertha (Moore) Slusser.

Ellen was a lifetime area resident and attended church regularly. She worked for hospice as a volunteer and did church work in her younger years. She was very crafty person who was an expert at crocheting, showing and sharing patterns; she made hats for the homeless in South Bend. She loved her family dearly, and enjoyed all the times she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (husband Wayne) Fritz of Bremen, a son, William Weldy of Bremen, nine grandchildren,17 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Margie Odiorne of Bremen and two half sisters, Lulla Huffer of Bremen and Nancy Ware of Mishawaka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Clayton Weldy in 1965 and Melvin Tyson in 1981, Chancey Swihart in 2000, a daughter, Jeanie Fritz in 1993, two brothers, John and Dallas Slusser and two half sisters, Lueberta Tener and Shirley Scott.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Pastor Ben Hammond will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3-7 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the funeral home.
