Linda Cheryl (Stephey) Hinkle, 68, of Bremen passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Community Hospital of Bremen. She was born June 4, 1945 in Plymouth to Donald and Erma Stephey.
Linda graduated from Bremen High School in 1963 and from Bethel College in 1967. Her first teaching job was at Bremen, where she had been a student. Then she taught at Shenandoah, Iowa, followed by a teaching job at Constantine, Michigan and eventually concluded her teaching career at Bremen. She also worked at the Christian Light Bookstore in Nappanee and before she retired, she worked at the Bremen Public Library.
Linda married Gary D. Hinkle on June 10, 1967. She was a member of the Bremen Missionary Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Erma Stephey. She is survived by her husband, Pastor Gary Hinkle of Bremen; a daughter, Christi (Matt) Weston of Kouts and a son, Dwight (Jennifer) Hinkle of O'Fallon, Missouri. Also are three grandchildren: Kayley, Tyler and Chelsey Hinkle. Also surviving are four sisters: Donna Jean (Robert) Eagle, Janice (Norman-deceased) Bridges, Glenice (Fred) Becknell and Karen (Larry) Miller and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank her wonderful doctors and staff, Dr. Paul Gettinger and Dr. Kenneth Pennington, who gave generously of their time and cared for Linda so compassionately.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Bremen Missionary Church. Pastor Brad Thornton will officiate with burial following at the Bremen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care.
