Karen Mae Hill

Karen Mae Hill, 65, formerly of Bremen, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Sanctuary at St. Paul's in South Bend, IN. She was born on October 18, 1947 in Bremen, IN to Carl and Lucille (Shumaker) Reed.

Karen is survived by her children, Tami Rene Hill of Eugene, OR, Michael Anthony Hill of Montoursville, PA, and Tara Lyn Hill of Somerville, MA; two grandchildren, Ruby Jayne Hillcraig of Eugene, OR and Quentin Harris Hill of Montoursville, PA; two sisters, Jolene Engdahl (husband Jim) of Granger and Carol Hershberger (husband Lloyd) of Bremen; and former mother-in-law Esther Hill of Bremen. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews and a host of long-time friends.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Steven Reed, and her former father-in-law, George Hill.

Karen was a 1965 graduate of Bremen High School. After high school, she married Michael Hill and they raised their family while living in the Chicago area, Henderson, KY, and Montoursville, PA. In Montoursville, she was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the Montoursville Flower Club. She worked in retail for many years for the May Company Department Stores.

Karen was a generous, kind, animated person who loved animals and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed dancing (especially to music by Elvis Presley), spoiling her grandchildren, and laughing with her friends and family. She always put others first in everything she did.

Visitation for Karen will be Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 2:00 to 7:00 at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home; Pastor Kenneth Miller will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Union Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society (PO Box 22, Plymouth, IN 46563).
