Charlotte E. Shumaker

Charlotte Evelyn Shumaker, 83, of Bremen passed away Saturday June 22, 2013 at Bremen Health Care Center in Bremen. She was born August 31, 1929 in Deer Park, Washington to Oscar and Viola (Tarbet) Allen. On February 21, 1948 she married Calvin J. Shumaker; he preceded her in death on November 24, 2009.

Charlotte enjoyed gardening, traveling to Florida, and attending auctions with her husband, Calvin. She liked to take care of her children and grandchildren, and she loved being with her family. Charlotte is remembered as a very caring person, who enjoyed being with those she loved.

Charlotte is survived by a daughter Janice (husband Dave) Rexstrew of Bremen, Son Jack Shumaker of Grand Ishland Florida, seven grandchildren, Rob (wife Dawn) Arndt, Corey (wife Ivy) Arndt, Joe (wife Marcie) Arndt all of Bremen, Jennifer (husband Russ) Yeo of Bourbon, Jacinda (husband Justin) Cunningham of Eustis, FL, Sunny (husband Chris) Jergens of Germantown, OH, Misty (husband Mario) Escobede of Laporte and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by five siblings, Cathy (Dennis) Thornton of Bremen, Jim (Delores) Allen of Ft. Myers, FL, Dale (Leah) Allen of Cape Cod, FL, Gary (Georgina) Allen of AZ, and Dan Allen of Valparaiso.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, three brothers, and one great-grandson.

Funeral services for Charlotte will be held at 11:30am Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen; Chaplain Bridget will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice Care.
