Margaret Lavonne Tucker

August 14, 1913 — April 30, 2013

M. Lavonne Tucker, 99, of Bremen, passed away around 11:15 PM Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the home of her daughter Karen Smith. Services will be at the Bremen Cemetery Chapel. Friends may call from 11-1 on Monday, May 6, 2013. The funeral service will begin at 1 PM with burial following.

Mrs. Tucker was born August 14, 1913 in Fort Wayne to Louis and Margaret (Wehnert) Gauert. She graduated from North Side High School in Fort Wayne in 1931. In 1934, she married Kenneth Tucker and moved to Bremen in 1938. Kenneth passed away in 1988.

She is survived by her daughters, Nola Spencer of Bourbon and Karen Smith of Bremen; a son, Conrad (Rita) Tucker of Nappanee; 14 grandchildren, Keith (George) Spencer of Bourbon, Lisa (Richard) Patterson of Mentone, Alta (Eddie) Baxley of Shallotte, NC, Mike Sliter of Bremen, Melanie (Dennis) Sliter of Evansville, Kennette (Kevin) Berg of Walkerton, Kevin (Jodi) Sliter of Syracuse, Melissa (Mike) Beghtel of Osceola, Tiffiny (Troy) Schwartz of Nappanee, Calley, Cassie, Collin Tucker of Nappanee, Jim (Heidi) Abel of Indianapolis, and Chris (Mindy) Abel of Nappanee; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Eastern Star, Rainbow, Cub Scouts, and a charter member of the Bremen Mother's Club. She was also a member of the First Church of Christ in Bremen. She owned and operated a Dog N' Suds Drive in located in Dunkirk, IN for over 25 years. She enjoyed her extended family and cooking for anyone that showed up for dinner. She loved sewing and crafts. In her early years, she competed in gymnastics and swimming at the Turner Club in Fort Wayne.

The Family would like to thank Karen Smith and Family, Marshall County Hospice, Dr. Gettinger, and all who provided care for Lavonne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, the Bremen Masonic Lodge, or the First United Church of Christ in Bremen.
