Nelson J Morehouse

Nelson J. Morehouse of Syracuse passed away on January 12, 2013 at6:15 PM. He was born on August 17, 1917, in Goshen, Indiana to Samuel Guy and Lydia (Rowdabaugh) Morehouse.

Nelson married Betty Josephine Pinkerton on August 16, 1942; she preceded him in death in 1972.

Nelson was a lifetime resident who worked as an installer for Overhead Door and also was a farmer. He was a member of New Salem Church of the Brethren.

Nelson is survived by one son, Tom Morehouse of Milford, a daughter, Carolyn (Blake) Baumgartner, four Grandchildren: Tomi Sue Kauffman, Samuel Morehouse, Rhonda Long, and Lisa Twenge, seven Great-Grandchildren, and two Great-Great-Grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Lucille (Richard) Evans, and Louise (Edwin) Meek both of Goshen, four brothers: Glen (Vera) Morehouse of Milford, John (Marion) Morehouse of Goshen, Eldon (Louise) Morehouse of Muncie, and Dean (Eleanor) of New Paris.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Dale, Everett and Herb Morehouse, a grandson, Jonathan and daughter-in-law, Joyce.

Services will be Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11 AM at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford with Rev. Gary Colby officiating. Burial will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9-11 AM at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Association or New Salem Church.
