Michael M. Jellicoe, 90, of Bremen, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Bremen Health Care Center. He was born on April 25, 1922 in Koehler, New Mexico to Marko and Matilda (Sabin) Jellicoe. He married Patricia Groff on June 21, 1950 in Mishawaka.
Michael graduated from high school in New Mexico and went on to earn a teaching degree from New Mexico State. After college, He honorably served his country in the US Army during WWII. Upon returning from the service, Michael began his teaching career and eventually received his Masters degree from Indiana University. He taught government in New Mexico, Colorado, and Mishawaka High School. He also coached basketball and football, and was a driver's education instructor. Michael was a member of the Teacher's Exchange Club of Mishawaka.
Michael is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia; four daughters, Judi Jellicoe of Plymouth, Lori Branshaw of Bremen, Jayne (Denny) Westfall of LaPorte, and Lisa (Rick) Molden of Bremen; six grandchildren, Mark Barnett, Mike (Sara) Barnett, Lindsay Branshaw, Chelsea Branshaw, Katey Molden, and Emily Molden; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Sepich of Carlsbad, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers.
There will be no immediate services for Michael. His final wishes were to be laid to rest in his home state of New Mexico. At a later date, the family will hold a private service to honor Michael.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be given to the Alzheimer's Association in Michael's memory.
