Helen Victoria Siklas, 80, of Bremen, passed away December 23, 2012 at Bremen Health Care Center. Helen was born on November 2, 1932 in Bremen. She was the second daughter of Victor E. and Elma (Brewer) Mutti.
She graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran School in 1946 and Bremen High School with the class of 1950. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, singing in the church choir for nearly 50 years and led the Paper Peace Corps for 45 years. She had a heart for missionary work and wished she could have been a missionary herself. It was with the help of many kind church members that missionaries overseas received Christian literature for children.
Through the years Helen enjoyed bicycling, garage sales, dancing, pinochle, bowling, her wonderful trip to Switzerland with her energetic sister, Pat, and the Bible studies with the church ladies. She collected hand carved wooden Anri sculptures from Italy and there was a time when her father was living that she played Swiss music for him, as his parents were immigrants from Switzerland.
Best of all she enjoyed her special friends Beverly Snyder, Carolyn Kline, Dorothy Walters and her cousin Marian Bondurant and not to be forgotten was her favorite Springer Spaniel, Julie.
Helen is survived by a son, Paul (Julia) Siklas, three grandchildren, Michael, Sarah and David. Also surviving are two sisters, Pat Ray of Vancouver, WA and Rosemary Hall of Plymouth, IN.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1973 and her father in 1991.
Helen chose to be a donor for the study of Epilepsy so there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Helen's life will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bremen on January 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM.
Memorial donations in her honor may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in care of Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
