Harold E. Reed

Harold E. Reed, Sr., 88, of Bremen passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at home. He was born on December 10, 1923 to Emery and Olive (Musser) Reed in Plymouth. Harold married Marjorie Schlemmer on August 17, 1947; she preceded him in death on October 17, 2001.

Harold graduated from Bremen High School with the class of 1941. He went on to honorably serve his country as part of the United States Army in World War II. Harold worked for NIPSCO for 26 years in construction, in addition to the many times he helped out his friends and family.

Harold is survived by a son, Harold "Sonny" (Joyce) Reed, Jr. of Bremen; two daughters, Linda "Lin" (Ed) Coffel and Marilyn Reed, both of Bremen; two grandchildren, Blake (Courtney) Reed and Lisa (Jason) Lemler; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Reed, Brooke Reed, and Addison Lemler; three brothers Howard Reed, Paul Reed, and Don Reed all of Bremen; and three sisters, Kathryn "Kate" Troxel of Wakarusa, Barbara Miller of Bremen, and Ruth Monesmith of Bourbon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie and a sister, Helen Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 605 South Center Street, Bremen at 11 AM. Pastor Neil Wonnacott will officiate and burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 4-8 PM at the church.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Community Hospital of Bremen.
