Irene Marie Bucher, 92, of Syracuse passed away on October 1, 2012 at the Maples at Waterford Circle. Irene was born May 10, 1920 in Milford, Indiana to Howard and Aileen (Hover) Poe. She married Wayne M. Bucher, Sr. on April 17, 1938; he preceded her in death on August 1, 2009.
Irene moved to the local area in 1938. She was a Postal Clerk in Milford for 11 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Warsaw, President of the Kosciusko Democrat Women's Organization from 1965-1967, President of the Kosciusko Welfare Board from 1965-1967 and was a 40 year member of the Tippecanoe Country Club, being an avid golfer and bridge player. Together with her husband Wayne, they developed Cindonway Shores in 1979, which is named after their three children. Irene helped on the family farm and enjoyed spending winter in Florida.
Irene is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Stan) Harper of Syracuse, two sons, Wayne (Sandra) Bucher, Jr. of Milford, Don (Peggy) Bucher of Syracuse, six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one step great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Frances Barnes of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne Sr., and two sisters Leona Dippon and Joy Tanner.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford; Pastor Gary Boschain will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 3 at Mishler Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Children's Hospital.
