William R. Stokes

William Robert Stokes, 85, of Bremen, IN, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Bremen Health Care Center. He was born on August 13, 1927.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary Ann Stokes and their son Gary William Stokes, and Angela Kay Regan, Amy Louise Smith, and Bryon Paul Smith, including seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Born in Teaneck, New Jersey, William Stokes served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII in 1945. He graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. Degree and attended the University of Virginia Law School, choosing instead to follow a career in banking. William worked for five years at the First National Bank of East Chicago, IN and then for the next twenty five years as a Vice President of the loan department of the First National Bank of Blue Island, IL.

An avid traveler, William and Rosemary traveled the world, mainly in Europe, throughout their marriage. In 1991, William and Rosemary retired to Rosemary's family farm near Bremen where they enjoyed peaceful retirement years.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka at 11 AM. Pastor Larry Whitehead will officiate the service with burial following in the Bremen Cemetery.

A visitation will occur at 10 AM at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Bremen Health Care Center.
