Donald L. Corl, 76, of Syracuse, formerly of Bremen passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at his residence. Donnie was born on September 15, 1935 in Bremen to Evertt and Bertha (Flory) Corl. He married Marcia Edel on September 17, 1955; she survives.
Donnie graduated from Bremen High School in 1953 where he met and married the love of his life Marcia. He loved boat racing, building his first boat while in high school, eventually introducing his family to the sport, which they still enjoy today. He was a pioneer of the bath tub and manufactured housing industries.
Donnie loved to fish; living on Lake Wawasee, he and his wife would fish every day, no matter the weather. He was affectionately known as "the fish man." Family was everything to Donnie; he took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marcia, six children, Tim Corl, Tammy (Dr. John) Kratzer, Trudy (Dave) Pittman, Tracy Corl, Todd (Susan) Corl, Tricia (Rob) Koontz, twelve grandchildren, Jaxon (Sarah) Swain, Jesse Swain, Jordan Swain, Jill (Randy) Wagoner, Allison Verhaeghe, Uriah (Dee Dee)Pittman, Preston Pittman, Marci Clingenpeel, Justin Corl, Alec Corl, Ruby Koontz, Brad Koontz and three great grandchildren, Garrett, Ragen, Sadie Jo. Also surviving is a brother Richard (Barbara) Corl and two sisters, Betty (Glen) Eldridge and Evelyn Corl.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Robert Verhaeghe.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, September 10, 2012 at Mishler Funeral Home, 461 West 900 North in Milford with Pastor James Mishler officiating. A private burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Mishler Funeral Home, 461 West 900 North, Milford.
