Marie Juanita Bollenbacher, 88, of Bremen, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa. She was born on January 11, 1924 in Bremen to Arthur and Ruth (Carbiener) Johnson.
Marie graduated from Madison Township High School in 1942 as valedictorian of her class. She married Evart Pittman on June 6, 1943; he preceded her in death on May 14, 1996. On January 2, 1998 she married Norman Bollenbacher. Marie was an accomplished musician and enjoyed gospel and country music, church fellowship and reading her Bible, experimenting with new recipes from cookbooks, and entertaining her many friends. She loved being a farm wife, a mother, and a grandmother.
Marie is survived by her husband, Norman Bollenbacher of Bremen; a daughter, Dixie Lee Pittman (Michael) Sheetz of Bremen; a son, Doyle Evart (Linda) Pittman of Tennessee; four step-children, Jane McFarland, Wayne (Bonnie) Bollenbacher, Janet (Lee) Anglemyer, and Ken (Debbie) Bollenbacher, all of Bremen; 3 grandchildren, Suzanna Sheetz (R. Michael) Dodds of Indianapolis, Brian Pittman of Tennessee, and Kimberly (Jeremy Osgood) Pittman of Minnesota; 7 step-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Evart Pittman and an infant son, Donn Alan Pittman.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen on Tuesday, August 21. The service will be officiated by Pastor Norman Reimer of Nappanee Missionary Church; burial at the Bremen Cemetery will follow the service.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Missionary Church.
