Nored F. Schlarb, 94, of Bremen, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa. She was born on November 23, 1917 to Clinton and Anna (Rathbun) Hathaway in Whitley County, Indiana.
Nored graduated from Madison Township School in 1935. On November 23, 1937 she married Keith Schlarb; he passed away on April 24, 2002. She worked for Ernie's Supermarket, Wyatt Locker, and Hilltop Farms. Nored was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and held numerous positions in the church and was a member of the Women's Guild. She was an active member in the Madison Township Home Ec Club, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Bremen, and the Friendly Hour Club. She was also a 4-H quilting leader for 22 years.
Nored is survived by a daughter, Kay (Ron) Holmes of Bremen; a son, Tom (Susan) Schlarb of Bremen; a grandson, Clint (Jill) Schlarb of Bremen; three granddaughters, Julie (Craig) Geving of Cody, Wyoming, Sheila (Mike) Haluda of South Bend, and Shelly (Bryan) Penrose of Wakarusa; five great-grandchildren, Lucas Schlarb, Ryan and Tyler Geving, and Nola and Brynlee Penrose; and a brother and sister, David Hathaway and Val June Schafer both of Lakeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband and nine brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. John United Church of Christ in Woodland. Pastor Jo An Schaetzle will officiate with burial following the service at St. John Cemetery in Woodland.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be given to St. John United Church of Christ or donor's choice.
