David J. Allen, 73, of Morris, Illinois, formerly of Bremen and Yellow Creek Lake Church of God Camp Ground, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Walnut Grove Nursing Home in Morris, IL. He was born on January 3, 1939 to Oscar and Viola (Tarbert) Allen in Spokane, Washington. David married Sandra Muffley in Bremen, Indiana on November 10, 1962.
David attended Bremen Community Schools. He worked with fiberglass his whole working career, until retiring from Wabash Valley Manufacturing in Silver Lake. He attended the Church of God in Akron, in Warsaw, and in Bremen. David was a big fan of fishing and Nascar. He loved his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandkids sporting events.
David is survived by his wife, Sandra Allen of Morris, IL; a daughter, Terese (Timothy) Kukman of Morris, IL; a son, Tim (Jamie) Allen of Warsaw; three grandchildren, Brock, Allison, and Riley Kukman; two step-grandchildren, Wyatt and Wayne Klinger; and a future granddaughter, Willow Allen. He is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte (Calvin) Shumaker and Catherine (Dennis) Thornton both of Bremen; and three brothers, James (Delores) Allen of Ft. Meyers, FL, Dale (Leah) Allen of Cape Coral, FL, Gary (Georgina) Allen of Lake Havasu, AZ, and Daniel Allen of Wanatah, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Mark Allen; two sisters, Marjorie and Mary Jane; and two brothers, Jack and Rex.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Family friend and Minister Verdon Feldman will officiate with burial following the service in the Bremen Cemetery.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
