Dennis Stillson

Dennis W. Stillson, 88, of Bremen, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012 at home. He was born on April 13, 1924 to Harold and Della (Sears) Stillson in Bremen.

In 1942, Dennis graduated from Bremen High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he eloped with Betty Miller on August 8, 1946 in Roseland. Dennis worked for State Farm Insurance Agency in Bremen until they moved to San Diego in 1968, but remained in the insurance business the rest of his career. He and his family lived in California for over forty years, but returned to Bremen in 2006. Dennis was a member of the Bremen Masonic Lodge, the South Bend Scottish Rite, and the Albar Shrine Club in San Diego. He was also the recipient of the Key Man Award and helped to start up the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Bremen.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Stillson of Bremen; a daughter Linda (Tom) Greenwood of San Diego; two sons Dennis "Mick" (Julia) Stillson of Bremen and Charles (Patricia) Stillson of San Diego; four granddaughters Karla Denson, Stephanie Granata, Rhonda Boyd, and Kassidy Zylka; one grandson, Blake Stillson; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marjorie and Erdine; and a brother, Harold.

Services will be held at 3:00 on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, with Masonic and military honors. Tom Padburg, Center for Hospice Care chaplain, will officiate.

Friends may call an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
