Ronald Hoskins

November 11, 1941 — February 17, 2012

Ronald Fredrick Hoskins, 70, died at his home in Tustin, California on Friday, February 17 surrounded by family. He was born November 11, 1941, in Noblesville, Indiana, to Alta Marie Ehman Hoskins and Harold F. Hoskins.



He is survived by his wife from his second marriage, Betty Lou Hays Hoskins. Also surviving are his first wife, Sonya Schramm Hoskins of Syracuse, Indiana, and his three children and four grandchildren: Melinda Hoskins of Syracuse, Indiana; Kyle (Patti) Hoskins of South Bend, Indiana; and Kara (Michael) Henderson of Deer Park, Illinois. There are two surviving adult children and four grandchildren from his second marriage, Linda Eggers of Huntington Beach, CA and Edgar (Judy) Ellsworth of Chino Hills, CA. He is also survived by two siblings Phil (Sandy) Hoskins of Olathe, Kansas and Ruth Akers of Elkhart, Indiana.



He was preceded in death by his parents and an adult child of his second marriage, Matthew Ellsworth.



Ron grew up in Carmel and Argos, Indiana. He graduated from Argos High School. He married his first wife in September 1962. And the following year he graduated from Ball State University in June 1963. At Ball State, he was a member of the Ball State Concert Choir and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Following graduation, he resided in Warsaw, Indiana where he raised his children with his first wife. Ron owned and managed Woodie's Supermarket in Warsaw. While residing in Warsaw, he was a member of the Warsaw Jaycee's, Rotary Club and Winona Lake Lion's club. He was also an avid follower of Hoosier basketball.



Following his second marriage in April 1994, he moved to California where he began a second career as a school teacher and lived for the remainder of his life. There he enjoyed working in his yard until his health would no longer allow.



A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 19th at Mishler Funeral Home in Milford, Indiana.



Memorial donations in Ron's honor may be given to the Woodie's Supermarket Educational Scholarship Trust or the American Lung Association in care of Mishler Funeral Home, Milford.
