Penny Aukerman

Penny Aukerman, 65, of Bremen passed away surrounded by her family in the Community Hospital of Bremen on Saturday, January 28, 2012. She was born in South

Bend on November 15, 1946 to Robert and Francis (Croft) Blank. On July 20, 1968 she married Ronald Aukerman in South Bend.

Penny attended South Bend Central High School and later worked as a waitress and cook for the Kopper Kettle in Bremen. Penny was known as the babysitter of Bremen and cared for many little ones throughout her career. She was also a homemaker, looking after her family that she loved very much.

Penny is survived by her husband Ronald Aukerman of Bremen; three sons Randy (Pam) Thornton of Fort Wayne, Danny Aukerman of Bremen, and Billy Aukerman of Bremen; a daughter Camie (Dwight "Bub") Vandiver of Bremen; five grandsons Tyler, Trever, Aydan, Zackery, and Skyler; eight granddaughters Emylee, Elyssa, Kaylee, Mackenzie, Tyra, Tiarra,Taryn, and Victoria; her mother Francis Sherman of Bremen; a sister Patricia Lamberson; and two nephews Nils and Brandon.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Blank, stepfather Raymond "Bud" Sherman and nephew Gordon Scott Lamberson.

A visitation for Penny will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 4-8 PM at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
