Elsie M. Berg

Elsie Marcella Berg, 92, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011. She was currently living at Wesley Manor Retirement Community in Frankfort, IN. She and her husband Fred had moved there from their Bremen home of 50 years in 1990.

Elsie was born February 25, 1919 in Eureka, IL to Joseph and Mary (Beutel) Heuberger. She married Frederick E. Berg on November 23, 1939 and they had five children. Prior to her marriage, Elsie graduated from Bremen High School and worked with the Indiana State Police in Indianapolis. She continued her work history as co-owner of the Berg's Appliance store in Bremen.

Elsie was a member of Bremen United Methodist Church, and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Frankfort. She held offices in the United Methodist Women's organization and in Church Women United. She also served as an officer in the South Bend District of the UMW. Elsie and Fred served as volunteers in mission at the McCurdy Mission School in New Mexico during the 1982-83 school year. She was also an active member of the Town and Country Home Ec. Club in Bremen.

Mrs. Berg is survived by her children; Shirley France of Mooresville, Ruth Nunn of Greenwood, Robert Berg of Canton, MI, Kermit Berg of San Francisco, Janet Berg of San Benito, TX, and their families. She has 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Viola Schini of Wakarusa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lydia and Emma, her brother Dale, and her husband Fred in 1998.



Funeral service will be Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen and will be officiated by Rev. Kevin Miller. Burial will be at the Bremen Cemetery following the service.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
