Pamela Jean Housley, 61, of Bremen passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Elkhart Center for Hospice. She was born December 27, 1949 in Bremen to William H. and Zatha "Jean" (Nick) Cox. On March 15, 1969 she married James David Housley, who survives.
There is an old saying that perfectly defines Pam's life: a life well-loved is a life well-lived. Although she was taken much too soon by a horrible illness, she managed to touch many, many lives, always leaving love in her wake. Pam graduated from LaVille High School in 1968, and worked in many different and diverse jobs. In her early years, she was a popular waitress at several different local restaurants. Later, she became a bookkeeper at Wilson Grain Elevator in Bremen, branch manager at Taper Lock Credit Union, Bremen, and finally working as office manager at DeSchepper Farms in Wyatt. She attended Bremen Church of the Brethren and was a member of Amarillo Star line-dancing club. Pam loved gardening and flowers; she enjoyed playing cards, knitting and reading. Most of all, Pam cherished her daughters, Mindy and Missy, treasured her beautiful grandchildren: Trevor, Mitchell, Connor, Gabby and Brady; and loved unconditionally "her" Dave. After almost 43 years of marriage, he was truly the love of her life as she was the love of his.
Survivors include her husband James David Housley of Bremen, 2 daughters: Mindy (David Thompson) Waldman of Fort Wayne and Marissa (Joel) Reinholtz of Osceola, five grandchildren: Trevor, Mitchell, Connor, Gabby and Brady, 2 brothers: Mark Cox of Plymouth and Bill (Brenda) Cox, Jr. of Bremen and 3 sisters: Frances Bope of Bremen, Mel (Jim) Cherrone of Bremen and Barb Finney of Bourbon; and one aunt, Rose Ray. Also surviving are sisters and brothers-in-law: John and Cheryl Housley, of Bremen, Dick and Cheryl Housley of Goshen, Cathie Thompson of Bremen, Shirley and Jim Wallace, of Bremen, Evon and Ronnie Miller, of Purvis, MS, Louise Working, of Bella Vista, AR, and Sue and George Stangas, of South Bend. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pam was blessed with many special angels, some neighbors and some friends. The family would like to acknowledge and to thank them for all their love and support: Richard and Mickey Grover, Mrs. Bev Snyder, Mrs. Ruth Zellmer, Mrs. Jeri Elliott, Tawana Robertson, Kelly Puckett, and Staci Hendricks. A special, heartfelt thank you to Pam's DeSchepper family: they truly went above and beyond helping Pam and her family during this difficult time.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Elizabeth Hartle, and her nephews, Clay and Clint Hartle.
Friends may call from 2 ? 6PM on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Bremen Church of the Brethren, and will be officiated by Pastor Mike Overpeck. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery.
