Ruth M. Vanskyock, 97, of Bremen passed away October 13, 2011 in Bremen Health Care. Ruth was born on July 25, 1914 in Geneva, IN to James and Katherine (Elliott) Stewart. She married James Vanskyock on September 15, 1934; he preceded her in death on February 26, 1982.

Ruth was a graduate of Geneva High School and was a beautician in Bremen for many years. She was the owner of Milady Hair Salon which she ran out of her home. She moved to Florida in 1975 and returned to the Bremen area in 1982. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Mothers Club and was an advisor to the Rainbow Girls. Ruth enjoyed reading. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Ruth is survived by a daughter, Janet Horn of Goshen, eight grand children, Lori Mckibbin of Hamilton, Ohio, Bret Aguilar of Whittier, California, Chris Walters of Syracuse, Indiana, Derek Aguilar of Nappanee, Indiana, Bruce Horn of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Beth Mann of Nappanee, Indiana, Angie Gayden of Goshen, Indiana and Dana Stanley of Angola, Indiana. Also surviving are 16 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, a daughter Judy Witwer, four brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service honoring Ruth's life will be held at 2:00 pm on October 22, 2011 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Calling will be one hour prior to the services. Internment of ashes will follow in the Bremen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association in care of Mishler Funeral Home.
