Dale J Sherk

Dale J. Sherk, 87, of Bremen passed away September 18, 2011 at the Elkhart Center for Hospice Care. Dale was born February 10, 1924 in Bremen to Delbert J. and Alice G. (Albert) Sherk. He married Kathleen E. Wirt on December 31, 1943; she preceded him in death on February 28, 2007.

Mr. Sherk was a 1942 graduate of Bremen High School, playing on the basketball and baseball teams. He was a farmer all of his life but also worked for Studebaker from 1942-1952 and also Bowser Sand and Gravel from 1952-1962. Dale was a former member of the Bremen Masonic Lodge and was past president of the Bremen Lions Club. He was a sports enthusiast, supporting the Chicago Cubs, an avid card player and enjoyed working outside in his yard. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all his friends and family.

Mr. Sherk is survived by a daughter Linda (Jim) Moore of New Buffalo, MI, a son Kevin Sherk and companion Rosalie Thacker of Bremen, a granddaughter, Amy (Clay) Hartsell of Raymore, MO and four great grandchildren, Sierra, Josiah, Ashlyn and Lauren Hartsell all of Raymore, MO. He is also survived by a special friend, Esther Hill of Bremen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathleen, an infant daughter, Teresa and a sister Agnes Grise.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 22 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Miller. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 21 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marshall County Red Cross, Elkhart Center for Hospice Care or the American Cancer Society.
