Shirley Elva Gallagher, 70, of Bremen passed away in her home at 8:52 a.m. on July 20, 2011. She was born on April 7, 1941 in Altoona, PA., to Anna May Bowser.
Shirley was a graduate of Altoona High School in Pennsylvania. She married her beloved James L. Gallagher on a beautiful sunny day in Florida, February 7th, 1974. James called her his, "little girl," from that day on. They were married for 37 wonderful years. Shirley was mother of three boys, James, Jay and Jeffery.
Shirley lived an active lifestyle. She lovingly cared for her husband, Jim, and always kept her children and grandchildren busy at her home on the lake. She was involved in many community and volunteer activities. Serving others was important to Shirley. She volunteered with Hospice and was part of the auxiliary at Bremen Hospital. Shirley was a member of First United Church of Christ in Bremen. During her retirement, Shirley and her husband spent time at their condo in Florida. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing and playing Pinochle with friends. Shirley appreciated a great sense of humor, honesty, and respect.
Shirley is survived by her husband, James L. Gallagher, two sons Jeff (Tammy) Beere of Plymouth, IN., Jay (Karen) Beere of Demotte, IN., three grandchildren; Ryan Beere, Tara Beere, and Crystal Cyr, and two great-grandchildren Isaiah and Lilly Brady.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her son, James Beere, and grandson, Richard Brady.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Mishler Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Ron Liechty. The burial will be in Bremen Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Friends may call from 11:00 to 1:00 on Monday, July 25, at the funeral home.
